Official visit to New York City

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will visit New York City on 7-8 October 2015. The deadline for accreditation is 5 October 2015.

Norwegian-American business cooperation is the main focus of the visit.

Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce’s 100th Anniversary

On Wednesday, 7 October, The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess will attend the Centennial Anniversary Gala of The Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce as guests of honor.

The Chamber is an organization dedicated to promote trade and goodwill between The United States and Norway. For 100 years the Chamber has functioned as a door opener and a catalyst for the whole diversity of business in both Norway and the United States.

Norwegian innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in New York City

In an official gift giving ceremony at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess will hand over of a piece of the original wall paper textile from the United Nations Security Council Chamber. The Chamber was a gift from Norway to the United Nations in 1952, designed by Arnstein Arneberg. The wallpaper – designed by Norwegian textile artist Else Poulsson – will become a part of Cooper Hewitt’s permanent textile collection.

For the moment, Norwegian Music and Norwegian music technology is receiving extraordinary attention in the United States. Artists like Kygo and Nico & Vinz are experiencing great success. At the same time Norwegian music entrepreneurs like Tidal and Phonophile deliver technology with the potential to change the way America buys and sells music. During their stay in New York City The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess will attend a luncheon with Music Norway and representatives of the Norwegian and US music industry.

The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess will attend a Norwegian Demo Day in New York where ten Norwegian companies are given a unique opportunity to introduce themselves to the energetic New York startup scene. Norwegian entrepreneurs are admired for being honest, hardworking and for delivering high quality products. Innovation Norway, together with the Norwegian Consulate General, welcomes every year about twenty Norwegian startup companies coming to learn from the international sales industry, marketing and product branding strategies in New York.
