Celebration of The King and Queen's 80th birthdays : Information for the press
Practical information for accredited members of the press in connection with the celebration events on 9 and 10 May 2017.
The Royal Palace and Palace Square, 9 May
The media is free to cover the entertainment and the arrival of the non-royal guests to the gala dinner at the Royal Palace. The entertainment will begin at 5:30 pm with a drill demonstration by His Majesty The King’s Guard and a performance by the choral group Oslo Soul Children.
At 6:30 pm the King and Queen will gather on the Palace Balcony with their royal guests to take part in the last part of the programme on the Palace Square.
An area will be reserved around the statue of Carl XIV Johan on the Palace Square for accredited press wishing to take photographs of the members of the Royal houses as they walk out on the Palace Balcony. Accreditation will be checked at the entrance to the designated area. The use of stools or ladders will not be permitted.
NTB scanpix and NRK-TV will have a photo pool where the congratulatory deputations are received in the morning and a pool during the gala dinner for still and moving images of the laid and decorated tables, receiving line, processions and speeches.
Honnørbrygga dock, 10 May
Two areas will be reserved at the Honnørbrygga dock for accredited press wishing to photograph the royal guests who will be attending the luncheon on board the Royal Yacht Norge. Photographers will not be permitted to move between the two designated areas, or to use stools or ladders.
All accredited press will be subject to a security check. Arrival at the Port Authority Police station at Skur 30 on City Hall quayside by at the latest 9:15 am.
All accredited press wishing to photograph the arrival on land of the royal guests after the luncheon on board the Royal Yacht Norge must go through a security check. Arrival at the Port Authority Police station at Skur 30 on City Hall quayside by at the latest 1:00 pm.
Opera House, 10 May
Three areas will be reserved for accredited press wishing to photograph the guests attending the gala banquet for the King and Queen hosted by the Government. Photographers will not be permitted to move between the three designated areas, or to use stools or ladders. All accredited press members will be subject to a security check. Arrival between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm on the sea-facing side of the Opera House. All accredited press must leave the Opera House once all the guests have arrived, around 7:10 pm. There will be fireworks after the banquet. The royal guests will go out on the sea-facing side of the Opera House to watch the fireworks. An area will be designated for accredited press near the Sukkerbiten restaurant. Arrival at 10:00 pm.
NTB scanpix and NRK-TV will provide pool images of the gala banquet from inside the Opera House.

NRK will have a pool inside the Royal Palace. The signal will be HD-SDI 1080i with embedded audio. A high-quality RTMP stream will also be available. The pool signal will be available via NRK MCR. Interested media are responsible for sending the signal from NRK MCR onwards.
NRK will offer a live pool signal via Eurovision News Exchange.
