Kitchen Section

The Kitchen Section is responsible for preparing all food in connection with the King and Queen’s official and private activities, and assists the Crown Prince and Crown Princess in connection with such activities as well.

This includes food preparation for:

  • Catering for meetings
  • Receptions
  • Official and private luncheons for up to 225 persons
  • Official and private dinners for up to 225 persons

The Section plays a key role in maintaining the Royal Family’s culinary traditions. The Section’s chefs seek to provide the Royal Family and their guests with a variety of appetising culinary experiences, and attach importance to using locally grown, sustainably produced Norwegian raw ingredients.

Organisation

The Kitchen Section is part of the Royal Household, and is led by Kitchen Director Nicolai Lundsgaard. For major functions, the Section may call on external personnel for assistance. In some cases local staff are hired, for example at the Royal residences at Jørstad and Sikkilsdalen.

The staff perform duties at the Palace as well as at the other Royal residences. The Section also assists the staff on the Royal Yacht, if needed.
