On 30 January His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon participated in a debate panel at the Young Global Leaders session Educating the Next Wave of Entrepreneurs, which was held at the Congress Centre in Davos, where the Crown Prince attended the World Economic Forum.
Later that day Crown Prince Haakon participated in a Dignity Day event at Swiss Alpine High School in Davos with Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu of South Africa, President of Finland Tarja Halonen, Finnish professor of philosophy Pekka Himanen, and founder and chairman of Operation Hope, John Hope Bryant.
The Crown Prince is one of the founders of Global Dignity, which offers a curriculum to teach young people the fundamentals of dignity in society and in their own lives. The curriculum is interactive, giving young people the opportunity to share their perspectives and express what dignity means to them, and to focus on issues that are important to their generation.
In October 2008 the Crown Prince attended the observance of Global Dignity Day at Ruseløkka School in Oslo.

On Sunday the Crown Prince participated in the closing ceremony where Desmond Tutu gave the closing remarks.

Welcoming the Restauration to the US
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon, along with a couple of thousand attendees, welcomed the sloop Restauration to New York, exactly 200 years after the vessel carrying Norwegian emigrants arrived in the United States. In 1825, they crossed the Atlantic in search of a new and better life. This voyage is regarded as the beginning of organised emigration from Norway.

Met with Governor Walz in Minnesota
Minnesota is one of the states in the United States where a large proportion of the population has Norwegian ancestry. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon is therefore also visiting this state and its largest metropolitan area, Minneapolis–Saint Paul, during his trip to the United States to mark the 200th anniversary of Norwegian emigration to the US.
