Oscarshall

Oscarshall Summer Palace was built for King Oscar I and was completed in 1852. Today, the small palace stands as a monument to Norwegian art and craftsmanship in the mid-19th century. It is open to the public during the summer.

Oscarshall stands as a monument to Norwegian art and applied art from the 19th century, and in 1881 King Oscar II opened the summer palace as a museum. This tradition is continued by the current King and Queen, and Oscarshall is normally open to the public from May to August. Performances are also held here—including music, dance and theatre—alongside several official events. Oscarshall is owned by the state but is at the disposal of His Majesty the King.
