Official visit to Germany: High-Level Round Table

Speech given by His Royal Highness The Crown Prince at the Round Table seminar "Regional Hydrogen Cooperation in the North - Strong Partnerships as Pioneers towards a Climate Neutral Industry" in Hamburg 8 November 2023.

Ministers,

State secretaries,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Meine Damen und Herren,

Guten Morgen!

I am very happy that we are doing this round table this morning.

I think it means alot to emphasis this seriousness and that we are all looking at this very important issue.

We are in the middle of a comprehensive transition towards a zero-emission future.

Northern Germany and Norway can lead the way – together.

We can build on centuries of close cooperation.

For many years, energy has been the cornerstone of our partnership.

Germany has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the energy transition.

You have high ambitions for scaling-up the hydrogen economy; ambitions that Norway share

The transition to hydrogen requires a large-scale restructuring of the energy market.

The German-Norwegian partnership is of great importance in that respect.

Not only for our two countries, but also for Europe as a whole.

Through our cooperation, we are seeking solutions to three of the most critical issues facing Europe today:

the climate crisis,

ensuring a secure energy supply,

and providing affordable energy to households and industry.

We must address all of these issues in order to prepare the ground for a sustainable tomorrow. To succeed, we need innovation and cooperation, bold decision-makers, and forward-thinking businesses.

The energy industry, with its knowledge, skills, and experience, has a key role to play.

Looking at the participants here today, I am confident that our discussions will help bring us closer to the solutions we need and to identify the next steps in the energy transition. Only through cooperation and partnership will we succeed in achieving a sustainable future.

Viel Erfolg und vielen Dank!
