Governor General of Canada in audience

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, is on an official visit to Norway and was received in audience at the Royal Palace today. The Governor General began her official visit at the Arctic Frontiers Conference in Tromsø.

His Majesty King Harald received Governor General Mary Simon and Mr Whit Fraser in audience this morning. Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince were also in attendance.

This is Her Excellency’s first visit to Norway as governor general. The last governor general to visit Norway was Michaëlle Jean in 2009. The Governor General will now continue her journey to Denmark and Greenland.

The Governor General of Canada represents His Majesty King Charles III, Canada’s Head of State, and carries out ceremonial and constitutional duties.
