The hearse and the cortège drove from the chapel at Oslo University Hospital – Rikshospitalet to the Royal Palace, and many people lined the streets along the route to watch King Harald's coffin pass.

King Harald's coffin arrived at the Royal Palace via Parkveien. The hearse was met by His Majesty The King's Guard. The drill team stood at attention and two buglers sounded the Parade March.

His Majesty The King's Lord Chamberlain walked ahead of the hearse for the final few metres to the Palace. King Harald's private secretary walked behind the hearse, and behind him came eight aides-de-camp.

Members of King Harald's family, senior Royal Court staff and King Harald's valets were waiting inside the Palace. King Harald's coffin was then brought in and carried by the aides-de-camp up to the Red Parlour.
