TEXTURE

During the past two years, Queen Sonja and Magne Furuholmen have collaborated on an artistic project in support of the Queen Sonja Print Award (QSPA). The result is a graphic art portfolio entitled “TEXTURE”, produced at the art studio Atelje Larsen in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Different starting points – shared fascination

The Queen is a keen amateur photographer, and most of her artistic production takes its point of departure in nature and photography. In contrast, Magne Furuholmen uses text and language as key components of his artwork.

Their collaboration demonstrates the many possibilities inherent in printmaking, and the common denominator between them is their use of photogravure. Both artists put distinct focus on surface and texture – details in nature, details in sculpture, transformed into new textures through printmaking. Many of the prints are double signed, as the artists have worked together closely and produced pieces combining elements from their respective fields of interest.

The exhibition is on display in Grieghallen in Bergen from 27 August to 3 September 2016.
