Visit to Kuala Lumpur underway
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit has travelled to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to take part in the global conference Women Deliver on 28-30 May. At a youth pre-conference on 27 May, the Crown Princess discussed women’s issues with young leaders.
In her capacity as a Special Representative for UNAIDS, Crown Princess Mette-Marit took part in a roundtable discussion with young leaders from around the world to explore issues relating to the health and reproductive rights of young women, including from an HIV/AIDS-related perspective.
Briefing on HIV in Southeast Asia
Following the discussion, Crown Princess Mette-Marit invited young people from UNAIDS to summarise a planning meeting of the newly-established UNAIDS Youth Advisory Forum held recently in Tunisia. The advisory forum is a direct result of the Crown Princess’s efforts to strengthen youth leadership in general, and within UNAIDS in particular.
Afterwards, the Crown Princess met with representatives of HIV-positive women and AIDS workers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. She was given a briefing on the HIV/AIDS situation in the region, with special focus on the challenges facing young women.
Tea with the prime minister’s wife
Crown Princess Mette-Marit concluded her day with a visit to the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, where she was invited to tea by the prime minister’s wife Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.
The wife of the prime minister is the patron of the Malaysian AIDS Council.

Celebrating May 17th
For more than 100 years, the Royal Family has greeted the Constitution Day children’s parade in Oslo from the balcony of the Royal Palace.
