Celebrate His Majesty The King
The public is invited to take part in a variety of events in honour of His Majesty King Harald’s 70th birthday. 20 February 2007.
Wednesday, 21 February at 15.30
The Storting will be presenting the gift from the national assembly to the King in a ceremony in the Palace Garden. The gift is a statue of the King’s mother, Crown Princess Märtha. The event is open to the public, and will be attended by the members of the Royal Family.
Wednesday 21 – Thursday 22 February from 12.00-15.00
The public will be able to sign a congratulatory register for His Majesty The King during this period. The register will be set out in the Chapel entrance on the north side of the Palace.

The public is invited to gather in the Palace Square, where a special event will take place. The performance is a gift to the King from the Armed Forces, and is intended to be a surprise.

Welcoming the Restauration to the US
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon, along with a couple of thousand attendees, welcomed the sloop Restauration to New York, exactly 200 years after the vessel carrying Norwegian emigrants arrived in the United States. In 1825, they crossed the Atlantic in search of a new and better life. This voyage is regarded as the beginning of organised emigration from Norway.
Met with Governor Walz in Minnesota
Minnesota is one of the states in the United States where a large proportion of the population has Norwegian ancestry. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon is therefore also visiting this state and its largest metropolitan area, Minneapolis–Saint Paul, during his trip to the United States to mark the 200th anniversary of Norwegian emigration to the US.
