Human Development Awards
Utmerkelsene deles ut av United Nations Development Programme som en anerkjennelse av de beste regionale og lokale rapportene om framskritt og hindringer i arbeidet mot fattigdom og ulikhet.
Dommerpanelet valgte også ut vinneren av the Mahbub ul Haq Award for Outstanding Contribution to Human Development. Denne prisen tildeles en enkeltperson – en leder som har lykkes spesielt i arbeidet med å sette utvikling på dagsorden i sitt hjemland.
H.K.H. Kronprisen uttalte om denne prisen at, the award focuses on human development, which is a key for moving the world forward. We need to be inspired by people who have taken leadership and have shown us a way we can improve the life conditions for humanity. That is why this prize was created.

Vinnerne Human Development Awards ble valgt ut blant over 50 bidrag fra 39 land. Prisen blir delt ut i fem kategorier, og vinnerne er:

- Kategori 5. Excellence and Innovation across HDR corporate principles for a Regional HDR
- Vinner: Asia Pacific 2006: Trade on Human Terms
I tillegg til H.K.H. Kronprinsen, besto dommerpanelet av Prinsesse Bama Bint Talal av Jordan, nobelprisvinner i økonomi, Joseph Stiglitz, professor Gita Sen og doktor Kwesi Botchwey.
Prisutdelingen finner sted i New York i juni.
