Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Lena Meyer-Landrut of Germany won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Satellite”. On Saturday evening, Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess and her son Mr Marius Borg Høiby attended the final round along with 18,000 other spectators.
This is the second time that Germany has won the Eurovision Song Contest.
Twentieth place
This year’s song contest included many ballads. Norway’s representative, Didrik Solli-Tangen, appeared third, performing the opera ballad “My Heart is Yours”.
“Congratulations to Germany and Norway for their fantastic performances at ESC. It was great fun,” wrote the Crown Princess in a Twitter message after the finals. Norway came in 20th place.
Won in Moscow
This is the third time that Norway has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest.
During the final round in Moscow last year, Norway’s representative Alexander Rybak was the clear winner with the song “Fairytale”. He received the highest point score in the history of the song contest.
The Eurovision dance
During intermission, the group Madcon performed the song “Glow”. Many people in the audience and throughout Europe had learned the official Eurovision dance in advance, and danced along with the music.
Last year, 124 million people watched the final round of the song contest, which is said to be the world’s largest direct broadcast of an entertainment show. Haddy N’jie, Erik Solbakken and Nadia Hasnaoui hosted the final round of the Eurovision Song Contest from Telenor Arena.

Welcoming the Restauration to the US
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon, along with a couple of thousand attendees, welcomed the sloop Restauration to New York, exactly 200 years after the vessel carrying Norwegian emigrants arrived in the United States. In 1825, they crossed the Atlantic in search of a new and better life. This voyage is regarded as the beginning of organised emigration from Norway.
