Norwegian Private Sector Development Conference

On 13 February 2007 His Royal Highness The Crown Prince attended a trade and industry conference on development cooperation, the 15th of its kind. The president of Mozambique was the guest of honour.

The Crown Prince delivered the opening address at the conference, which was arranged by the BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo. This year’s conference programme focused on issues related to industrial development in the South and the role played by trade and industry in development efforts. Key conference topics included profits and the fight against poverty, fair trade, energy, challenges for international relief efforts, and public agencies and instruments in the development cooperation market.

The President of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza, was the guest of honour and keynote speaker. Other conference speakers included the Norwegian Minister of International Development Erik Solheim, Director General of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) Finn Bergensen, and the former UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland.

President Guebuza went directly from the conference to the Royal Palace, where he was granted an audience with the King. The conference was organised by Innovation Norway and NHO.
