The Oslo Climate and Forest Conference 2010

The conference brings together heads of state, ministers of the environment, and experts from countries around the world who are involved in the efforts to preserve the world’s rainforests. Norway’s conference delegates include Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Minister of the Environment and International Development Erik Solheim.

The purpose of the conference is to establish an interim partnership scheme for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries. This partnership will seek to ensure the rapid implementation of a global, coordinated effort to preserve the world’s tropical forests, in keeping with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
