State Visit from Brazil
The President of Brazil, HE Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Mrs Marisa Letícia da Silva were greeted by Their Majesties The King and Queen, and Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess in a welcoming ceremony at the Palace Square Thursday.
The President and Mrs da Silva were in Norway on a state visit 13 – 14 September. The visit began with the official welcoming ceremony at the Palace Square prior to a gala banquet held at the Royal Palace in honour of the visitors.
Friday, the President attended the opening of a seminar at the Radisson SAS Hotel, before participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National Monument at Akershus Castle. Their Majesties The King and Queen and Mrs da Silva were also in attendance during the ceremony.
Later on Friday, President Lula da Silva met with President of the Storting (Norwegian national assembly), Mr Torbjørn Jagland, and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. After the meetings, the Government held a luncheon for President and Mrs da Silva at Akershus Castle. The King and Queen and The Crown Prince and Crown Princess were also in attendance.
Mrs da Silva and Her Majesty Queen Sonja had their own programme Friday, including visits to the Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Munch Museum.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince marked D-Day today alongside heads of state and government from the countries that participated in the Normandy landings 80 years ago.

The Royal Family greeted the Children's parade in Oslo from the Palace Balcony in glorious spring sunshine today. Approximately 120 schools are taking part in the parade this year.
