Heirs to the Scandinavian thrones to visit Svalbard
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark will pay an official visit to the archipelago of Svalbard during the period from 21 to 27 June, 2008.
It is in their capacity as Royal patrons for the International Polar Year for their respective countries that the three heirs to the Scandinavian thrones will be travelling to Svalbard.
The Royal party will spend most of its time onboard the Swedish research vessel Oden, which is currently on an expedition in the area around Svalbard. The party will board the vessel from Longyearbyen on 21 June 2008.
On Thursday, 26 June 2008, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Prince Victoria and Crown Prince Frederik will disembark to visit to New Ålesund.
While it will not be possible for members of the press to follow the Royal party while it is onboard the research vessel Oden, arrangements will be made for the media to cover the departure from Longyearbyen on 21 June and the visit to New Ålesund on 26 June.
