The King and Queen and the Crown Prince and Crown Princess try to visit as many places as possible in Norway.
Visits to individual counties give them an excellent opportunity to meet the people of Norway where they live and work and to gain insight into contemporary life in different parts of the country.
Generally, two counties are visited each year, one by King Harald and Queen Sonja and one by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Each journey normally lasts 2-3 days, during which time visits are paid to 4-6 municipalities.
- These annual visits are very close to our hearts. We are allowed to experience our country in all kinds of weather and get the opportunity to enjoy the best of local culture, food and traditions. Yet the best of all is to meet all the people that live throughout our country. People that are proud of their homes and that make up the large and small warm communities in towns and villages.
